Why learn music?
Music has many benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety, providing fulfillment, improving mood, fueling your creativity, and it is extremely fun and rewarding if effort is put in.
Why study with me?
Other than playing music, I’ve always found it very fulfilling to share my love of music through teaching it to others. I like to create a nurturing environment that is also very fun and satisfying for the students. I believe that passion is key to creating art, therefore, I am confident that I can share my passion with the students. I am offering lessons for anyone who is willing to learn, regardless of the age. Music is a universal language and I would love to share it with as many people as possible.
I’ve been studying classical guitar for 8 years and have had experiences in it in both the US and Syria, where I grew up. Recently I received my Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance and a minor in Performing Arts Management from the Hartt School of Music, Dance, and Theatre. Throughout my education, I have learned skills such as performing, building a musical career, communicating with an audience, playing in chamber music ensembles, Music Theory, Piano, Ear Training and much more. Furthermore, I value creating balance between teaching technique and musicianship in order to be a well-rounded musician. I believe that these skills will be valuable to students who want to pursue a career in music in the long run and to students who want to play music recreationally.
Not only will the students learn the instrument, they will learn the basics of Ear Training and Music Theory as well. If the students want to have fun and be challenged, then please consider taking a lesson with me. I am more than willing to offer a trial lesson for anyone who is on the fence about taking lessons. Please contact me for my rates. I am happy to announce that I am officially offering online lessons in the following:
What I offer:
Guitar
I have the most experience with Classical Guitar. From basic techniques to advanced repertoire, I can help the students make tremendous progress. Regardless if it is a beginner student or one who is prepping for a college audition, I have a lot of tools to offer. In addition, I offer lessons for basic fingerstyle guitar if the students are more interested in learning Pop songs.
Basic Piano
I was a tutor at my university for three years in Piano. I offer lessons for beginner piano students who want to learn the fundamentals of the instrument and how to read music.
Ear Training
I was a tutor for beginner and intermediate students at my university. I can help the students sight-sing, recognize and generate intervals, chords, and scales, and learn dictation. Ear Training is a very important skill to have for musicians, especially ones who already play an instrument and want to become even more well-rounded musicians. If this sounds like you, consider taking a trial lesson with me.
Testimonials
“Sarah is a great, knowledgable teacher. Her patience and constructive criticism is perfect for a beginner like myself. I have no doubt that her many years of training would make her a fantastic teacher to more experienced students as well!”
— Ethan Gueldenzopf, Classical Guitar student
I was Sarah Badlissi’s Ear Training professor at The Hartt School for four consecutive semesters. After years of hard work, she has become a very fine musician. Sarah has extremely high standards, and will not settle. Her consistent growth is a testament to her hard work and diligence. In addition to her solid musicianship, Sarah is a genuinely nice person. Being part of Sarah’s journey has been an absolute pleasure.
— Benjamin Rauch, Adjunct Ear Training Professor at the Hartt School of Music, Dance, and Theatre
"Sarah is an excellent artist musician who had the opportunity to work with various levels of amateur pianists at the Hartt School as the piano class tutor. Her experience has given her a broad understanding of necessary technical and musical issues, and a skill-set that makes her an excellent teacher of the instrument.”
— Greg Babal, Coordinator of Keyboard classes and Piano Professor at the Hartt School of Music, Dance, and Theatre
